Kabli bird station (58.01431N 24.44942E) is located in Häädemeeste parish, Kabli village. The bird station was established in 1969 with the aim to investigate and monitor bird migration. The main methods of the station are banding of birds caught with Helgoland trap and with mist-nets, assessment of physiological conditions of individual birds by measurements and visual investigation, and as well as visual observation of migration flow. In addition to the bird studies in recent years, bats, dragonflies and butterflies and their migratory movements are taken into focus. Kabli Bird Station runs regularly in each year from mid-August until early November. To facilitate visual observations, since 1997 a bird watching tower was built to the station and in 2005, an observation platform was added to the shoreline to enchance waterbird observations. From year 2002 visual observations of bird migration were collected to the stations websites on-line database. Since 2011 birdwatchers enter their observations to the eElurikkus bird survey database and further data collection takes place in the eElurikkus environment. Kabli database (rändemonitor) centralises the Kabli bird station and Pulgoja bird station data.

Since 1979, in addition to Kabli, migratory birds are studied in the reeds of Pulgoja (Luitemaa nature reserve), regularily from second half of July to the end of August. The aim of Pulgoja migration survey point (Kabli Bird Station reed branch) is the investigation of reed species migration and population monitoring.

Kabli bird station is surrounded by Kabli nature reserve. The reserve governor is Estonian Environment Board. Within the reserve is located an 1.8 km long nature trail that runs from Kabli bird station to Kabli Nature Centre, and maintained by the State Forest Management Centre. The monitoring and survey work is organized by Estonian Environament Agency.
